The Band

Our Story

Silver Liners started as a band in early 2025. Silver Liners is building their own repertoire with lyrics that touch, move, challenge and bring joy. The show tells the story of a man who examines himself closely in everything that happens to him. The arrangements on guitar, bass guitar and drums are carefully crafted in various styles with elements from R&B to Jazz, Reggae, Singer-songwriter and Pop, with the tone set by the intense vocals of their frontman. But what makes this group especially irresistible is the enormous enthusiasm and deep concentration with which the men perform on stage: the energy and joy are palpable!

Gerrit Hoogstraaten

Lead Vocals, Lyrics & Songwriting

Gerrit is the creative force behind Silver Liners. As the band's lead singer, lyricist, and songwriter, he crafts original English-language songs based on personal narratives. The band started with covers before transitioning to Gerrit's original material.

Maarten Cassee

Drums

Maarten has been an enthusiastic amateur musician for 55 years. Besides drums, he plays saxophone and other instruments across jazz, soul, rock, and classical music styles. In his day job as a train conductor, he even incorporates music into his work.

Wim Reynaert

Bass

Wim is the bassist of the band, bringing experience from blues, jazz, Latin, Afro, and Gypsy music across various ensembles. Now retired, he pursues hobbies including painting, chess, and sailing. He describes playing with Silver Liners as 'a great adventure'.

Ron Smeets

Guitar

Ron is the band's guitarist who arranges most of Gerrit's songs into playable and inspiring pieces for the band. He also takes care of mixing and mastering the tracks.
